So you might notice, our blog is a bit plain and there is no icon in the upper left corner indicating it is a "cute blog"

Chantel has never been very good at conforming, especially just for the sake of others. So, our blog will continue to be boring....Because while she thinks her friends blogs are way too cute, she just can't bring herself to herd along.

You can however find Chantel, Vern, Victoria and Cody on Facebook *grin* Rebels we may be, but we still like to spend time with our friends, even if it only on the computer!

Dannie the Dinosaur

Victoria had an assignment to create a children's book for her Child Development class. She created Dannie the Dinosaur. It is a very cute book, with a wonderful story. Here are a few of the pages. Victoria did all of the illustrations and used colored art pencils to color it. A lot of work, but wonderful finally!!!

Come Out, Come Out wherever You Are?

Have you been missing emails from us? Why, you ask, don't she write? (Dances With Wolves anyone?)

Well, that would be Facebook's fault!

No, really! They make it too easy to check in with friends, add a few pictures, blog your day and news in your life...so why email??? *grin*

But I promise, if you aren't on Facebook, you can at least come here and see what we have been up to!

So, here is the news from The Haynes household:

As a household, we have decided to forgo soda (pop) for the month of March..which means no soda at all..no matter what. Vern thinks he and Chantel are addicted to the sugar and caffeine, Chantel thinks he is probably right but thinks after the month is over soda will once again flow in our home. We will see.
We are planning our camping trips for the summer and are hopeful that our trips include Rochester, Iowa and most like a trip down to Missouri (more on that to come later).

Vern
Has been busy with school, but is doing very well!
Has been very busy with work, and their business is growing, growing, growing. Right now the entire office is under construction and redecorating as iCitizen is moved up front to accommodate for the large increase in customer traffic that has occur ed over the past couple of years. Within the new structure is a new-better laid out workbench, 2 cubicles, a showcase and display for retail sales and easier access for customers.
Has been teaching at the WECC, including Excel, Ebay and others.
Is a wonderful husband and father and has been working hard on his priesthood leadership and improving his already wonderful self.

Chantel

Has been busy with clinicals, but is now finished in Redwood Falls and will be in Windom at Windom Hospital for the remainder of the semester. She is taking a total of 13 credits, which includes Maternal Family Nursing and Nursing Adult II. In her clinicals she has been learning, learning, learning and is finally starting to feel like she can be a competent nurse with all of the clinical skills that come with an LPN status. She will be finishing her LPN year with a preceptorship at the end of May and then PN nursing boards in June..wish her luck, because her LPN license is required to continue on to the RN year.

Set up the February Art Parent display at the Windom Public Library.

Has an appointment Monday with a Rheumatologist in Sioux Falls and will hopefully get a clearer picture of her diagnosis and some ideas on how to deal with the inflammation now that she can't take ibuprofen or other meds like it.

Is doing good on the new medication, and although she is still the human barometer and deals with chronic joint and inflammation pain, has more energy and smiles a lot more right now than she has for a while.

Victoria

Is doing wonderfully in school and technically only has 5 more classes left to finish her AA after this semester. She is still in Honors territory with her grades.

Has decided that she might like to pursue veterinary medicine and has sent away to a couple of colleges for more information.

Will be staying home next year to finish up her AA and get a few science courses out of the way for transfer.

Does not have her permit or driver's license yet, however seems to think a car is something that she wants. It isn't that she "can't" get her license, but that she lost the paperwork required to obtain her license and has yet to call DMV for another copy. Mom said since she did the initial work and it was Victoria who lost the paperwork, then it is up to Victoria to work this out. She doesn't seem too interested to do that. Not that we blame her, because who wants to have to drive around here in the winter anyway?

Is still volunteering at the elementary school, but has missed a few days due to illness and school projects that are due. She enjoys the children, but is pretty sure at this point that she doesn't want to teach. We will see.

CodyOdina

Has been working on her stories and novel as much as possible along with her school work.

Teaches art on Wednesday for homeschool art and does a fabulous job.

Put streaks in her hair for the very first time after getting a cute new cut at the salon.

Is now taller than mom and only an inch shorter than Victoria.

Has grown an apple tree from seed and it is doing very well.

Is socializing herself crazy on Facebook!

Is teaching herself to play the guitar and doing really well.

Is trying to wear every article of clothing in her closet at least 1 time in the next month (or so).

Cyrus

Is doing wonderful in band, even though he doesn't practice like he should here at home. He has a Spring concert coming up.

Is doing really well in school and is working hard on his handwriting skills.

Has taken to writing short stories and drawing new inventions he comes up with. It is interesting what he invents! Some of his ideas would be really helpful to others and some are very scifi.

Reads a lot more now than before and has finished several books this year.

Skates very fast now and has speed skater form.

Jared

Has gotten farther in school this year than we expected for his first year home.

Can now skate on his own and almost keep up with the other kids.

Is only 1/2 a foot shorter than Cyrus but weighs just about even with him.

Read his whole health book for the semester and knows veggies are good for him but still won't eat most of them.

Loves to cook and can make wonderful eggs and pancakes with just a little help.

Is absolutely addicted to the Game Cube, which is a bit of a point of contention at the moment, but what he really wants to do is ride his bike so is anxious for Spring to come.

The Nursing Student
