So here we are in June, it has been rather cool here, but still warm compared to the winter, and we went weeks without rain and now have barely had a sunny day all week. We all get a bit
melancholy without the sun.
Our June has begun, and boy is it busy.
Already the girls
attended Youth Conference last weekend. We don't have any pictures though, because Victoria claims that she cleaned her room and now can not find her charger for her camera....
uhuh, sure.
This Saturday is the years start to Seminary, and we will be in Sioux Falls. We decided to make a day of it and go to the Zoo Days at the Great Plains Zoo.
Their friend Ginger will spend the night Sunday and then Monday I will take both Victoria and her (with the other kids) up to St. Peter for Especially For Youth (
EFY) a week of socializing, spirituality and service project...plus a dance or two.
We go up to get them on Saturday, and then on Monday the 22
nd we are off on our summer camping trip. This time it is to Missouri!
Victoria would like to go into
veterinary medicine, and Columbia Mo, home to the University of Missouri, has a wonderful program...plus a lot of college opportunity for the rest of the family with a wonderful Lit program for Cody, a
BSN program for me, and continuing education for Vern. If we like it, we may want to move there next summer...we shall see.
In the mean time we are camping at a state park, taking in the sites and visiting a couple of church sites.
All of this is going on while
Chantel is taking two classes this summer! Lucky for her she has so many helpers.
Vern has chosen to plug on in his Bachelors and is taking 3 classes in the fall. We will see how we
survive.
Chantel is officially an LPN graduate and will be a licensed LPN some time in July when she takes her boards (in Sioux Falls). She is also now trained to start
IV's...watch out! She starts her RN program in August. She will also keep working on her AA along with nursing classes.
Victoria is enjoying her summer off, although she is busy. It looks like July is fairly open for our family, although we would like to plan a couple more trips to Rochester to visit with the Tanners, and maybe another camping trip or two. Both Victoria and Cody will be attending Encampment in South Dakota in August. By then, Victoria will be 18 and should have her permit *grin* She is also taking a full load in school next semester.
Victoria has also sparked a relationship with her biological father's family and has been emailing back and forth with her Uncle Austin and her Aunt
Jewellia. She and
Jewellia have really hit it off!
Jewellia's daughter
Trinni always wanted a cousin and she and Victoria are also working on a relationship.
Jewellia sent a very nice package of goodies for Victoria which included some yummy Mexican candy and a very nice outfit with
earrings.
Victoria is also officially a registered member of the
Tohono O'odham Nation!
Cyrus has turned 12 and will be ordained a Deacon on Sunday. He is now a part of the young
men's program and will be able to pass the Sacrament if he stays worthy. Below you will find pictures of his birthday party. He also completed his Faith In God program, and we are so proud of his hard work!
Otherwise, we are all trying to enjoy every moment of Summer that Mother Nature will allow us.
We would love to hear from you!!!
